We are seeking to recruit an exceptional individual to the role of Director of Communications.

This is an exciting role at a significant time for IPPR, having recently appointed a new Director, launched IPPR Scotland, and developed a new research strategy. The Director of Communications will be responsible for ushering in a new era for IPPR communications. While respecting IPPR’s heritage, pedigree and success the successful candidate will ensure that IPPR has a compelling vision for the future, asks and answers the big questions and is never boring.

The post-holder will provide motivational leadership, and will work with a team of highly skilled professionals to increase IPPR’s impact, profile and influence. A key priority will be to enhance IPPR’s ability to influence through exploring creative and innovative ways of broadening and developing its communications activities and outputs; maximising the use of new technology and digital and social media.

The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in a senior management role in a communications, public affairs or equivalent environment and will have successfully delivered communications strategies. They will have a passion for policy and politics, a good understanding of the political climate and the ability to work across a wide range of policy areas. In addition to this they will have highly developed intellectual skills, with the capacity to think analytically and imaginatively, excellent leadership and management skills, a strong network of contacts and excellent communications skills.
